Hi there folks. I’m so glad you stopped by. My name is Rocky and I have been editing and giving academic writing advice for over 7 years now, mostly through my work as an editor for professors who publish actively in their fields. I have also edited many dissertations and theses. I see that many professors and students run into similar problems, so I started this site to provide solutions to those writing issues.

My Philosophy for Helping You Improve Your Academic Writing

My philosophy and approach is different than most other writing-tutorial sites out there. I try not to use a lot of grammatical jargon or go into deep grammatical analyses. That has been done before and there are many great places on the web to find that information.

Instead, I want to provide you with practical, useful tips that you can apply right away to your writing. To improve your writing, you don’t have to understand all of the grammatical details, rules, and exceptions upon exceptions to the rules. It is much more effective, in my opinion, to focus on real examples. As you see and apply solutions to real, common areas, your brain will naturally begin to extend those examples into larger rules. This is the same way that we learn spoken language, and not only is this approach very effective, it’s much easier than pouring through grammatical exercises.

If you’re new here, the first thing i suggest is that you sign up for the free academic writing tips, which I send periodically to my subscribers. Don’t worry, I won’t overload you with e-mails, and I will absolutely never send you junk or give or sell your information to anyone. I am simply not in that business.
